Cheers to Love and the Sri Lankan Adventure: Tarun’s Honeymoon Trip with Thrillophilia

When I think back to our honeymoon trip this one conversation always outshines all the other memories.

It was perfect and unique as it was sunny but at the same time it was raining heavily and we were by the beach. I turned to her with a smile. “Can you believe we’re finally here for our honeymoon in Sri Lanka? It feels like a dream.”

She looked at me, her eyes shining. “I know! It’s even better than I imagined. Just being with you makes it perfect.”

I laughed softly, “Remember how worried we were about planning our wedding and everything? But look at us now, enjoying this beautiful moment.”

She smiled and said, “It’s like everything fell into place for us. I love how we can explore together and just be ourselves.”

I nodded, feeling happy. “I’ve never been happier than I am right now, sharing this trip with you. It’s a new beginning for us, and I can’t wait for what’s next.”

“Me too,” she said, squeezing my hand. “Here’s to our love, our marriage, and many more adventures together!

Our Fantastic Adventure on Bentota Beach

We started our Bentota adventure with snorkelling. Although the visibility wasn’t great because of some random rain, we still had a fantastic time exploring the colourful underwater world. My wife and I giggled as we tried to spot fish, feeling like adventurous kids again.

After snorkelling, we took a pleasant boat ride on the Madu River. We saw many charming little islands and even spotted some fat monkeys swinging from the trees.

The next day was a dream! The sun was shining brightly, totally opposite to the day before, and the wind was just right for Windsurfing. When we reached the beach, we saw some people practically flying over the water and we decided to ditch windsurfing and chose to try a sofa surf ride(that’s what it was called!)

We zipped across the waves, feeling the thrill rush through us. The laughter we shared as we bounced over the waves was the most fun of our entire trip.

A Day of Culture and Charm

I must say that our trip to Kandy was quite luxurious as we had booked a fantastic resort suggested by Divyansh, our trip planner in Thrillophilia.

In the morning we went to visit Huluganga Falls and the famous temple of the Tooth Relic.

So this temple was very, very quiet and on the same day my wife wore anklets that had the most echoing sound. She was walking carefully but there was no solution as the temple had a pin-drop silence. I guess we were giggling a bit too much to the point that others started staring at us.

We left the temple soon and laughed our hearts out at the famous Kandy Lake. In the evening, we returned to our luxurious resort and saw an incredible Kandyan dance performance.

Meeting Thomas

Our time in Nuwara Eliya was as if we were in a postcard.

We stayed in this cosy little cottage, surrounded by endless tea plantations and visited the beautiful temple of Sita maa- Seetha Amman.

The air was cool and crisp, and that morning we woke up to the smell of fresh tea leaves. Our time here was the most peaceful as we sat by the window, sipping tea and watching the mist slowly lift from the hills. It was calm, and honestly, felt like time had slowed down just for us.

But Yala was where the adventure really came alive!

My wife really loves elephants, like if you were to open her Insta feed that’s all you will find! So to make her wishes come true, we had already decided to visit Yala National Park on this trip.

The elephant safari was fantastic, to say the least. We saw the cutest sight of a baby elephant with its mom, gently walking side by side. A few elephants nearby were busy playing in the mud, while peacocks strutted around, showing off their feathers, and deer gracefully moved through the grass.

But, you know what the best part was? Meeting Thomas.

A  cheeky teen elephant who absolutely loved taking a bath in the Menik Ganga River. Watching him splash around as if he had not a care in the world, was both hilarious and heartwarming. After the safari, we even had a short elephant ride, which made the whole experience even more special.

That One Glamorous Night in Colombo!

Our last stop before heading back home was a day in Colombo. We started early as we had a city tour, a worth-it recommendation by Pooja who planned our trip. We covered many temples and monuments like Colombo National Museum and Koneswaram Temple.

After the tour, we went to the Pettah Market. And my god, it was like we never left India! Same vibes, it was a proper desi market. Our favourite snacks here were banana pakoras, fresh coconut chunks and malai.

And, to wrap up the day, we headed to one of Colombo’s stylish clubs right by the Colombo Lotus Tower. As we were dancing, the city’s lights were buzzing with us… It was the perfect way to end our day filled with excitement, food, and a touch of glam.

Here’s to the Architect!

All in all, it was the perfect honeymoon trip! My wife is the one who planned this entire trip! She decided on all the places we would go and especially the hotels.

So, when we sat down to find such packages, we found that the things we wanted were scattered in 2-3 different tours. Since I had booked a trip with Thrillophilia before this, I knew they would be the best guys to reach out to!

The Sri Lanka tour planners- Pooja and Divyansh happily built us an 8-day 7-night dream honeymoon trip just the way my wife wanted. So, Thanks Thrillophilia for planning the most special and most romantic trip with the love of my life!
