A Great Gig in Dubai- Sweety’s Family Trip Review with Thrillophilia

My husband loves to sleep.
So does my son.

So, when I booked this Dubai trip from Thrillophilia for our son’s birthday surprise, he had no clue. Even after dropping him a text on WhatsApp to check his mail, it went unread for days. I had no choice but to tell this to him myself with a disappointed face.

But the reaction from him was unexpected. He lifted me up in his arms and twirled twice! Our son was watching it standing outside the bedroom door, and it sparked his curiosity.

“Where are we going?”
“Surprise!” we both jinxed!

1 for Helicopter

I kept all the details from my husband and son on purpose. I wanted each day to unfurl before them as a startling bombshell, one that would burst out their enthusiasm with a BANG!

So, the first of my gifts was the Falcon Helicopter Ride Pearl Tour. It was our very first time riding a helicopter, and I must say, it was an incredible experience.

That too in Dubai- the city of luxury!

When we were flying over the Atlantis and Palm Jumeirah and the Burj Khalifa, we could think of nothing else but the sheer elegance of this destination. At that moment, I felt so overwhelmed to see my son gaping outside the window in wonder, and when I looked beside me…my husband was doing the same.

Both of them were lost in their own worlds, and there was nothing that could make me more happy- they both were having the time of their lives!

2 for Hot Air Balloon Ride

Yes, this was my second surprise to my kid.

Boarding the balloon was a taxing task, and honestly speaking my heart was throbbing hard at the idea of flying so high up in the sky on a Helium Balloon. But, I could see that my lovelies were super duper excited for the same.

The ride was spectacular, starting from Atlantis and flying over the azure blue sea upon which the creativity and innovation of the man-made islands of Dubai showcased their glamour. It was like a dream come true.

And when the sunset finally started, painting the entire sky with hues of orange yellow and red, the blue sea had changed its colours to purple. The view that formed cannot ever be captured via any camera lens, or brush strokes, or pen scribbles. I am sure of that till now.

My family helped me gain the courage to take this ride, and I will be forever thankful to them.

3 for Desert Safari

The most awaited part of the trip.

When we were boarding the flight, my son had asked me,

“We will be seeing deserts right? And we will be seeing camels also nah?"

I replied, “Maybe, we will see about it”

So, they had a slight idea about this part of the journey.

But when we reached the place and saw the endless deserts stretched into infinity before us, we could not help but just run into the distance feeling the air wash over our souls!

There were so many activities to do and so little time!

Thanks to my husband’s management skills, we covered it all one by one, right in time for the camel ride. We rode ATVs Quad Bikes, petted falcons wearing headscarves and protective gear, and even resorted to a car drive taking permission from our driver!

Eventually, by the time of sunset, we took the camel ride. Although I liked the sunset-watching experience from the hot air balloon better, this experience was a close contender.

Coming back for snack and dinner to our camp stay, we realised that it was not just a normal dinner.

IT WAS A FEAST!

We saw Tanoura dance performances where people wearing colourful skirts danced with fire rings, doing stunts that were visually magnificent. It was such a unique cultural experience to have in the heart of Dubai!

4 for Marina cruise

The Dhow Cruise in Dubai Marina was more than a cruise- it was a peek inside the fishing culture of the destination which most people knew nothing about!

Dubai is surely an interesting place. Here, the past, the present, the future, all of it collide and collapse into something unparalleled.

Its fishing culture rose due to the presence of the water bodies, and its nomadic culture that grew in the desert regions was contradictory, of course, but also highlighted the diversity of the place.

It was one coin, with two sides, making it come alive with the power of coexistence.

5 for time travel

Can you guess which attraction(s) we are speaking of?

Yep. Right.

The Museum of the Future. The tour of this place left us speechless, it felt as if we had entered a parallel universe that we knew nothing about. Just the people walking and talking around us seemed more real than ever.

But that was not it, since we had also paid a visit to Abu Dhabi to explore its wonders, the list of places for time travel goes on.

The Ferrari world. Well, I know it is not what you expected to read but to know about the evolution of the famous race-car brand of Ferrari was no less than a similar experience. My son and my husband both went crazy over it, spending hours in that attraction and trying all the rides that they could together!

6 for glamour

I left the mentions of Miracle Garden, Burj Khalifa, and the Palm Tower tour on purpose. These are the conventional places to travel to whenever someone goes to Dubai, but that does not mean that we did not enjoy exploring these iconic marvels!

The View at The Palm deserves special appreciation for the impeccable views of the Palm Jumeirah and the beautiful Arabian Sea. To top it off, we also had an included free treat with the itinerary which enhanced our experience all the more.

All in all, it was a marvellous trip for us. And the purpose of gifting my son with something memorable was well-served. It was our first time travelling with Thrillophilia, but after this trip, I am sure it won't be the last one!
