Vinay’s Kerala Trip with Thrillophilia: Of Love, Peace and Exploration

If there is one place that could steal your breath away with its sheer beauty, it is Kerala.

For years, Vinay had dreamt of exploring this magical land of backwaters, misty hills, and sprawling tea gardens. The year of 2024 finally presented him with the perfect opportunity, and together with his partner, he embarked on a 5-day 4-night trip to Kerala.

Vinay had heard great things about Thrillophilia from his friends, and when it came to booking a Kerala trip, he did not think twice. He specifically included Munnar and Alleppey as his partner always wanted to see the backwaters of Kerala from the houseboat.

Since all the planning went so smooth, they only had to pack their bags up and show up on the day of the trip.

The Arrivals
Escaping the pollution, Vinay and his partner loved the change in the atmosphere as they arrived in Kerala. When they saw the coastal plains stretching along the Arabian Sea and got a whiff of the rich scent of spices carried by the wind, they felt that time had slowed down.

Vinay and his partner loved the knowledge their driver Shamon shared on the ride from Kochi to Munnar. The drive was indeed a perfect introduction to the natural beauty of Kerala. In fact, they mentioned about him in the review, “Shamon's warmth, extensive knowledge, and assistance were invaluable throughout the trip. His adept driving skills and fluency in both Hindi and English added an extra layer of comfort and enjoyment to our experience.”

On their way, they made a stop at the famous Valara and Cheeyappara waterfalls. Vinay felt the chaos of the city life melt away when the cool mist from the waterfalls gently kissed their faces. They passed tea plantations that stretched endlessly into the horizon. It was like a scene from a painting with rolling hills, vibrant green fields, and the scent of fresh tea leaves in the air.

After arriving at Munnar, the couple visited the chocolate factory. Who would not love indulging in some freshly made chocolate while learning about the process, afterall? They treated their taste buds before strolling through the refreshing tea plants at the famous Ripple Tea Gardens. While recalling their journey, the couple was glad that they could spend time together at the Mattupetty Lake and Dam.

Their next destination was Thekkady, where they took a boat ride on the Periyar Lake. They were lucky enough to spot elephants bathing in the river, along with deer, bison, and playful langurs. Vinay’s wife wanted to explore the local markets, so they skipped the jeep safari and went straight to the market to try local delicacies.

They tasted Aviyal, Thoran, and the spicy Kappa, with a refreshing glass of Panakam. Vinay’s partner loved the food and wanted to try coconut-based dishes but they were absolutely full and kept it for the other day.

Surprises Await…
Vinay had specifically mentioned his partner’s wish to see the backwaters of Alleppey from a traditional Kerala houseboat. The day had finally arrived as they boarded their luxurious houseboat. Time seemed to slow down as they drifted past emerald-green paddy fields and fishermen casting their nets into the water.

The couple enjoyed their time on the houseboat as they were treated to freshly caught fish that was cooked in traditional Kerala style with aromatic spices. But the real beauty of the houseboat experience came during the sunset. The sky was painted in hues of orange, red, and pink, casting a golden glow on the water. Sitting on the deck, hand in hand, Vinay and his partner watched as the day melted into night and the stars slowly started appearing in the inky sky.

That night, they slept peacefully on the gently rocking houseboat while relishing the soothing sounds of the backwaters. It was, without a doubt, one of the most romantic experiences of their lives. In Vinay’s words, “ Definitely, the highlight of our trip was a luxurious houseboat experience in Alleppey. The premium service, coupled with sumptuous food, against the backdrop of Alleppey's scenery, left us enchanted.

All good things must come to an end, and on the final day, they reluctantly left the houseboat and made their way to Kochi. The remaining time they had in Kochi before their flight took off, they went to see the historic Fort Kochi and the lively Marine Drive, where they took in the last glimpses of Kerala’s beauty.

A Journey to Remember
Looking back on their Kerala adventure, Vinay could not have asked for a better experience than this. Be it the misty hills of Munnar to the wildlife of Thekkady and the tranquil backwaters of Alleppey, every destination left a lasting impression on them. As Vinay reflects on the trip, he is filled with gratitude for the memories they created in Kerala.

And he would definitely recommend Thrillophilia to anyone looking for a hassle-free and perfectly curated journey.
