Unveiling the Charm of Himachal: Vijay’s Family Trip with Thrillophilia

Waking up to the most scenic view of my life felt like a dream. Watching my parents sip coffee on the balcony was the perfect addition to the breathtaking landscape. Mountains have a unique way of bringing happiness and peace, and this family trip was all about enjoying those moments together. We chose to visit Himachal because it had been a long time since our last family getaway, and we were eager to spend quality time together.

Since my sister and I were coming from different locations, we decided to book our trip from a commonplace, which was Delhi. Thrillophilia made it easy for us to create a fun itinerary and find the best accommodations. We met in Delhi and were all set to enjoy our adventure.

Temples, Cafes, and Momos

We finally arrived in Manali, excited to explore this beautiful town. Our first day was planned to visit the sacred temples and sights of Manali and enjoy an evening exploring the Mall Road. We first went to the Hadimba Devi Temple which is surrounded by tall Deodar trees.

The peaceful atmosphere and unique wooden structure made it feel truly special. Next, we visited the Manu Temple and Vashisht Temple. The temples were calm and filled with positive energy. Mom looked around and said, "These temples are so beautiful. What a great start to our trip.” It felt peaceful just being there.

After that, we stopped by the Tibetan Monastery. It was colourful and lively, with monks chanting and shops selling carpets and handicrafts. The atmosphere, the peace, and learning about monk’s lives was a pretty amazing experience.

As the evening set in, we headed to the famous Mall Road. The streets were full of life, with bright lights, cosy cafes, and shops selling woollens and souvenirs. We wandered around, enjoying the cool mountain air and stopping for some hot momos. It was a perfect and relaxing start to our trip, and we were all set for the next adventure.

The Dreamiest Day

We had a great time exploring Manali and we still had one place to visit, the newly built Buddhist Monastery in Manali. The peaceful atmosphere, colourful prayer flags, and beautiful architecture made it a perfect start to the day.

Then came the highlight—our trip to Solang Valley! As we drove up, the views of the snow-capped mountains were breathtaking. The valley was like a dream, covered in white, and the air was fresh and crisp.

We couldn’t resist trying the adventure activities! We all tried our hand at skiing and also the fun ATV ride. Skiing was tricky but so much fun! The thrill of sliding down the snow was an unforgettable experience. My mom was especially happy seeing snow for the first time and enjoyed throwing snowballs at us.

The next day, we set off for Kullu and Manikaran, and the journey itself felt magical. The cool mountain breeze brushed against our faces as we drove past stunning landscapes—towering peaks, flowing rivers, and endless greenery. We stood by the river, watching the water rush over smooth stones, feeling the fresh air fill our lungs. It was unlike anything we can experience in cities.

Manikaran was also a beautiful surprise for us! The contrast of the icy cold air and the steaming hot springs was incredible. As we dipped our hands into the warm water, I remember hiding our laughter when Dad, hesitant at first, finally put his hands in and sighed in relief, saying, "Now, this is something special!"

Before heading to Jibhi, we explored the market in Kasol, picking up souvenirs and tasting the famous egg parathas!

A Hidden Paradise in the Hills

Waking up in Jibhi was a mixture of a lot of emotions. I woke up early to catch a breathtaking view of sunrise which was enlightening and peaceful. We had premium accommodations with the best views of the mountains. The crisp mountain air, the soft golden sunlight, and a warm cup of tea made for a perfect morning. After a delicious breakfast, we set off on our journey through the breathtaking Jibhi – Jalori Pass.

The real adventure began with a short hike to Serolsar Lake. Walking through the dense Alpine forests, we felt completely surrounded by nature’s beauty. When we finally reached the lake, it was like stepping into a postcard—calm, crystal-clear waters reflecting the tall trees around it. The peaceful silence of the place made it feel sacred. Near the lake stood the Budhi Nagin Temple, where locals believe the goddess protects the water.

After spending some quiet moments by the lake and clicking many many pictures, we made our way back to Jalori Pass. The views of the valleys and mountains stretching endlessly were mesmerizing. It was hard to leave such a beautiful place, but our journey had to continue.

As we made our way to Aut Tunnel to board our bus back to Delhi, we couldn’t stop reminiscing about the trip. This journey was exactly what we needed—a refreshing escape into nature and a chance to reconnect as a family. After so long, we had shared laughter, adventures, and moments that would stay with us forever.
