Journey Through Azerbaijan: Thrillophilia Review of Nayan's Family Trip
Nayan and his wife were in search of a family-friendly destination that would be fun and manageable with their 6-month-old baby. While exploring travel destinations online, they came across Azerbaijan and thought it might be the perfect choice.
During his search for the ideal travel agency, Nayan stumbled upon Thrillophilia, and after reading a bunch of great reviews from people all over the world, he was sold. The reviews promised a smooth, hassle-free trip, so they decided to give it a shot. And they weren’t disappointed - Thrillophilia made sure everything was taken care of, perfectly suited to their family needs.
Discovering Baku’s City Life and Modern Architecture
The family’s journey in Azerbaijan started with an exciting city tour of Baku. They began their day with a visit to Nizami Street, where they explored several cafes, and admired locals going about their day. Nayan and his wife enjoyed strolling along the street, taking in the lively atmosphere of the place, while their baby peacefully observed from his stroller. The family took their time, admiring the mix of old and new architecture that surrounded them.
Their next stop, the Flame Towers, was a true highlight. These towering structures, designed to resemble flames, stood out dramatically against the skyline. Nayan was particularly fascinated by the design and the way the buildings glowed as the sun began to set. They were impressed by how something so modern could fit into the city’s landscape so effortlessly.
Later, they also visited the Heydar Aliyev Center, which stood out with its futuristic design. Nayan, who had a strong interest in architecture, found it particularly intriguing. The curves and smooth lines of the building were unlike anything he had seen before. She, too, found the structure fascinating and made sure to snap a few photos of it.
Their first day in Azerbaijan was filled with excitement and wonder, and they couldn't help but feel excited for the next day's schedule - the Old City tour.
Diving into the History of Icherisheher
The next day, the family explored Baku’s Old City, known among the locals as 'Icherisheher'. The narrow, winding streets and ancient buildings gave them a sense of history that was completely different from the modern city they had seen the day before. Nayan, who has always been interested in learning about different cultures and histories, was excited to walk through this UNESCO World Heritage site. The streets were not crowded, which gave them a chance to take in the details of the old architecture and imagine what life had been like centuries ago.
One of the first places they visited was the Maiden Tower, a mysterious landmark that seemed to stand tall above everything else. The tower has been part of Baku’s skyline for centuries, and the family was impressed by its height and unusual design. It was easy to imagine the stories and legends that had been told about this tower throughout history.
As they wandered deeper into the Old City, they reached the Shirvanshahs' Palace. The royal palace, with its beautiful courtyards and detailed carvings, gave them a deeper understanding of Azerbaijan’s royal past. Nayan and his wife spent time reading about the palace’s history, and they found themselves reflecting on how much the country had evolved over the centuries. The peaceful courtyards of the palace allowed them to relax for a while and enjoy the beauty of the space.
It felt like they were truly experiencing a different side of Baku, one that was full of history and culture. The Old City deepened their appreciation for Azerbaijan's rich history and set the stage for the later part of their trip.
Exploring Gabala's Natural Beauty
After two days of exploring the city, the family made their way to Gabala, a scenic area in the mountains that promised a completely different experience. The calm and peaceful surroundings were a huge change from the busy streets of Baku. Their first stop was Nohur Lake, a beautiful, serene spot surrounded by mountains. The peaceful atmosphere was exactly what they needed, and Nayan and his wife enjoyed a quiet moment by the lake while their baby rested in his stroller.
The next day, the family set out to explore more of Gabala’s natural wonders. The Yeddigozel Waterfall was one of their highlights, and they took a short hike to reach it. The waterfall’s roar as it crashed down the rocks was both refreshing and calming, and it was the perfect spot to take in the surrounding beauty. The family stood there for a while, appreciating the power of nature. They were both impressed by the peacefulness and simplicity of the area.
Next, they visited the Tufandag Ski Resort. While they didn’t have time to ski, the family enjoyed walking around the resort and taking in the cool mountain air. The views of the surrounding peaks were spectacular, and Nayan was happy to just relax and enjoy the landscape. The change in scenery, from the busy streets of Baku to the calm of Gabala, was refreshing and gave them a chance to unwind before heading back to Baku.
By the end of their trip, the family felt like they had experienced the best of both worlds. Baku had shown them the city’s vibrant, modern side, while Gabala offered a peaceful retreat into nature. The combination of both made their trip unforgettable.
