Love, Adventure, and Bollywood Dreams: Teja’s Ladakh Trip Review with Thrillophilia
The picturesque landscapes of Ladakh have blessed many movie scenes from Bollywood which has made it a dream destination for many. I am lucky that my partner and I got a chance to be among those fortunate people who have witnessed the serenity of Leh and Ladakh with our own eyes.
On a mundane Friday evening, we felt the urge to embark on an adventurous journey. ‘We need to get out of Hyderabad and travel to some new places’, my partner said.
I quickly jumped on the idea after agreeing with her. It had been more than a year since we had planned a vacation together outside Hyderabad. My partner listed out the places which were on her bucket list and I listed mine.
We had agreed the first commonplace on both of our bucket lists would be our next travel destination. And guess what? The first place that we both wished to see together was Leh and Ladakh!
Exploring Leh with Thrillophilia
It was a no-brainer for us when we had to pick the travel service company for our tour to Leh and Ladakh. We knew we needed a reliable travel company that could sort the logistics and help us enjoy a trip without major hassles.
We had earlier enjoyed memorable trips with Thrillophilia when we went on a trek in Himachal Pradesh and planned a group tour with our friends to Hampi. Therefore, we decided we booked a package with Thrillophilia and started packing for a trip of our dreams.
Our trip commenced in Leh where our guide cum tour leader met us and explained our itinerary in detail. I could see my partner gleaming with excitement as our guide explained what was in store for us for the next few days in Leh and Ladakh.
After a day of acclimatising ourselves to the high altitude, we began our exploration on a bright sunny morning. We started our day by feasting on yummy parathas and set on a thrilling ride to Sham Valley.
We crossed the Hall of Fame which is dedicated to the Indo-Pak war and visited the Spituk Gompa known for its beautiful Buddhist paintings and ancient masks. We were able to see many other places on our list like the Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the Indus Sangam Viewpoint.
High on life on the highest roads in the world
One of the highlights of our trip was Khardung La Pass. It is one of the highest passes in the world and the views from here are just mind-blowing. ‘I wish I could pitch a tent here and live blissfully forever’, my partner said enthralled by the picturesque beauty of this white sand desert.
Another place that blew our breath away was Nubra Valley, where we tried Bactrian camel rides. Our stay at Nubra Valley boasted a delicious meal over a bonfire and musical entertainment. When we visited Stok Village, we were overwhelmed by the sweetness of the Ladakhi people.
We explored Sindhu Ghat, which is believed to be the birthplace of Indian civilisation. Our tour included a sumptuous Ladakhi lunch served by the locals. We also witnessed the local way of life along with enchanting views of Stok Kangri Peak here.
We were 2 idiots in Ladakh!
My partner and I are big fans of Bollywood so when we were in Leh and Ladakh, there was no argument on which places were a must-visit for us to recreate Bollywood moments.
We recreated famous moments from the movie 3-Idiots, Dil Se and Jab Tak Hai Jaan at Pangong Lake. My partner was too excited to click hundreds of pictures here in Bollywood style.
During our trip, we also visited the famous Druk Padma School which became famous after the movie 3 Idiots as some of the scenes were shot here. We were sceptical if we could squeeze in time to visit Thiksey Monastery on our return route to Leh.
However, with some good luck and great time management by our tour leaders, we were also able to visit Thiksey Monastery and have a coffee at Chang La Cafe.
My partner clutched my hand tightly as we boarded our return flight to Hyderabad and said ‘This was the perfect escape from our day-to-day life in Hyderabad. I am glad I have you as my partner with whom I can explore the most mesmerising places on the earth.’
