A Magical Beginning in Paradise - Shivani’s Honeymoon Trip to Mauritius
Marriage marks the start of a beautiful new chapter, filled with a lifetime of love, companionship, and cherished memories. And, my husband and I were eager to start this new journey by going on an ideal honeymoon getaway.
Both of us wanted a trip where we could enjoy romantic evenings amidst a peaceful atmosphere, and picturesque backdrops, and spend precious moments to really get to know each other.
So, that is how our quest began and after much searching, we stumbled upon this breathtaking destination - Mauritius! It seemed like the perfect place for some alone time in a peaceful setting. We planned everything and booked a romantic honeymoon to Mauritius with Thrillophilia.
A few days after our wedding, my husband and I flew to our much-awaited honeymoon in the enchanting land of Mauritius. As we looked down at the stunning blue waters and lush greenery from the plane’s window, we knew our trip was going to be magical.
The Water Paradise
We were brimming with enthusiasm as we checked into the hotel and were immediately taken aback by our stunning room. The soothing sound of ocean waves enveloped us as we enjoyed the captivating garden and ocean view from our balcony.
We wanted to check out the island, so we quickly grabbed a cab to Blue Bay Beach, which was highly recommended by Thrillophilia. It was just a picture-perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a nice dinner, with its beautiful white sands and crystal-clear blue waters. We had a great time walking around, eating, and sharing our excitement about the trip.
After a great time, we returned to the hotel and were super excited for the next few days of fun, romance, and adventure in paradise!
History, Food & Shopping!
With excitement in the air, we set off to explore Port Louis, beginning our island adventure. Our exploration journey kicked off at the magnificent Fort Adelaide, followed by a visit to the historic Aapravasi Ghat Museum.
Even though Mauritius is known for its beautiful beaches and natural attractions, we learned that the city is filled with interesting history and culture. I was astounded by the fact that Mauritius, like India, is a blend of so many different cultures including Indian, African, Chinese, and Europeans. The island’s beauty is enhanced by its combination of different cultures.
Soon after this historical exploration, it was time to shop and eat! After all, no vacation is complete without shopping at the local places and tasting local food.
We visited the colourful and vibrant Le Caudan Waterfront area, and like every other woman, I dragged my husband to the local shops and boutiques. The shopping spree turned out to be fun as well as romantic, as my husband seemed like a king who wanted to please his queen with whatever she liked to buy.
Our day went by with shopping, clicking pictures, and strolling in the waterfront area. But what truly stole our hearts was the cute little restaurants and cafes along the waterfront.
At dusk, soaked in golden hour hues, we dined at a small local restaurant lounge and tried the Gâteau Piment and Mauritian Curry, sipped wine and talked about our beautiful future.
The lit-up street and the tranquil water enhanced the romantic ambience, and throughout the evening, we couldn't take our eyes off each other, getting to know one another and falling even more in love.
This day was truly memorable and we were already excited for the upcoming days filled with adventures and fun activities.
Adventure, Pray & Love
Waking up in a lovely room with an ocean view, and feeling a light breeze - well, It felt like I was in a romantic movie!
Anyways, after a delicious breakfast, we got ready to go to our first spot for the day - Valley of Colors. Reaching the valley, we were mesmerised by the vast colourful valley and the breathtaking views that surrounded us.
The name truly does justice to the place, and so we couldn't resist taking many photos. I must say that hands down it was one of the best backdrops for some amazing pictures in Mauritius.
And, the next thing on our itinerary was no less than a “toofani adventure”. We took on some fun activities in the park like quad biking and luge-karting, and the best one was zip-lining! Flying over the valley while feeling like a superhero was the best adventure so far!
The next stop for the day was the famous Grand Bassin where we enjoyed some spiritual and meditative time. We offered our prayers to Lord Shiva and like a kid, I sneaked a look at my husband while praying and felt butterflies in my stomach, seeing him so peaceful and handsome!
We returned to the hotel and I dozed off with no idea what was awaiting me next.
I woke up and realised that my husband was not in the room. However, there was a note lying on the table that read, "Get ready for a starry, romantic evening. I am waiting for you!"
I couldn't contain my excitement and got dressed in my favourite dress. I walked down to the restaurant where the waiter led me to a romantic candlelight dinner set up under a canopy facing the beach. My husband was waiting for me with beautiful flowers.
With a smile on my face and happy tears, we sat for dinner, and it was one of the most beautiful and memorable nights of my life.
It was the perfect way to end our honeymoon - candlelight, stars, ocean, and my universe, my husband right in front of me. Mauritius became a part of our fairy tale and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
“Cheers to us, a new beginning, and love for eternity.”
