A Singapore Trip That Turned Into A Bliss- Shitals’ Thrillophilia Review

Baby Shark do do do do do do
Baby Shark do do do do do do…

My brain could just think of this song when we landed at Changi Airport. My son was listening to it all throughout the journey, and the catchy beats of the song got to me.

And my husband. He was singing along to the tunes whenever it was playing in the car ride from the airport to the hotel.

I had had enough. I switched off the music and asked them both to just enjoy the trip as it was our first international trip with family. EVER!

This little outburst cost me a bit, but I was happy to make up for it because the song had finally stopped, and my son was gaining more interest outside the phone screen. He was enthusiastically looking out the car window, pointing at the huge skyscrapers and squeaking with joy. Even my husband had started to play along as well, which uplifted my mood and I started to finally relax.

It was a plan for which we had been preparing for months now, and since it was tough to get a holiday being in business, I wished to utilise the entire vacation to the fullest. All I wanted was to spend quality time with my family, unwind, and detach from the overflowing plate of work and responsibilities.

Incredibilities of Singapore

The only thing that bothered me when I was getting ready for the Night Safari was that… will it be safe for kids?

I already had assurance from Thrillophilia and from the web searches that this Safari is completely kid-friendly, but a mother’s heart knows no bounds of worries.

Anyway, when we boarded the tram and the tour started, I realised it was perhaps one of the best exposures that my son was getting. We spotted so, so, SO many creatures, like lions, rhinoceros, sloths, and elephants, and with each sight, we three were getting more and more excited!

The special light of the place did not bother the animals, but it was enough to see the animals clearly. And the best part, it was COMPLETELY safe. We maintained an adequate distance from the enclosures, and there were multiple workers around, ready to help in case of any emergency.

The next day was spent with sleepy eyes till afternoon, after which we headed out for a sightseeing tour.

The Merlion park was undoubtedly elegant. The famous Merlion Statue was the subject of all our pictures there, but we surely did enjoy the blueberry and cream cheese ice cream while strolling around the place.

The Helix Bridge was also one-of-a-kind, with its innovative architecture and the amazing views it offered of the city. But what stole the show was Gardens by the Bay (of course!)

The vibrant Supertrees and iconic cooling conservatories literally made our jaws drop, and the grandeur of the place is truly unmatchable. It is perhaps one of the most innovative nature-conservation projects that I have ever come across, and it totally impressed us three.

The sections of Floral Fantasy and Flower Dome not only enhanced our visit with spectacular sights, but they also gave us something to remember forever- the time we spent together there.

We had no hurry, we knew that after this we would go for dinner, and from there, back to the hotel. So we wanted to make the best of this opportunity and have so much fun there.

What enriched the trip was the season of our travel, the dates were just around Christmas, and the entire place was decorated in the Holiday themes! There were Christmas trees, gifts, lights, and so much happiness all around!

Even the moods of the workers, the shopkeepers, the drivers, and the ambience all around were quite festive, and we loved the experience of touring Singapore!

Experiences worth a million dollars

The Universal Studios tour was a great addition to our Sentosa island trip. From live dance performances to Jurassic Park themed zones and Madagascar themed zones, we three had a lovely time there!

It is true that Universal Studios have a huge contribution in making kid’s films a huge success all over the world, and it was a blissful experience to explore it all with my little son.

He was not just enthusiastic, he got exhausted from all the excitement that made him jump around the entire place holding our hands!

Our visit to the Madame Tussauds was simply AMAZING!!!! I was absolutely thrilled to click photos with the life-like wax statues of Sachin Tendulkar (my favourite cricketer) and all the other celebrities, world-famous personalities like Aishwariya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Barack Obama.

To wrap up the Sentosa Island tour, our last visit was to the Adventure Cove Waterpark. We were too tired to try out many slides and activities, so we decided to just relax and eat and spend a nice time enjoying the sunset. My son was willing to take a dip in the water, as his tiredness flew away when he saw such an interesting waterpark, but even his rush decreased after wading through the pool for some time.

Good for us all, we could relish the end of this mesmerising tour with happy feet, happy hearts, and happy minds!

While coming back, I could see how this trip had bonded us together, away from the glaring screens of phones and tablets.

And that is perhaps the best thing that ever happened to us!
