Rakshita’s Solo Adventures in Spain with Thrillophilia
“Travelling solo can be scary but is also liberating and life-changing.”
While scrolling through endless travel reels, Rakshita always dreamed of packing her bags like one adventurous girl and exploring new places. She never found the time to plan it for herself, but this time, with a good break ahead, she decided to make that dream a reality. This time she wanted to be the one posting about her solo adventures!
Since it was her first solo trip, Rakshita wanted everything to be in order – from stays to transfers, visas, and guides. She had bookmarked a few options from Thrillophilia and began narrowing down her destinations. Spain caught her eye with its grand monuments, lively streets, and tempting food.
She booked the trip and was all set for her first solo adventure, filled with excitement, hope, and just a touch of nervousness.
The City of Rich Vibrant Lifestyle
Rakshita’s solo adventure began in Madrid. As soon as she landed and was on her way to the hotel, she was thrilled to see the marvellous structures and vibrant streets. In her leisure time, she decided to visit the Royal Palace of Madrid, a grand building where Spanish royalty once lived. The palace was breathtaking, and she felt like she was stepping back in time. She also stopped by the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where she admired beautiful Spanish art.
The next day, Rakshita hopped on a bus for a guided tour around Madrid. Her guided tour began with exploring the iconic Plaza Mayor, the city’s lively and historic square, and loved the charming medieval buildings at Plaza de la Villa. Puerta de Alcalá, a grand arch, was another highlight, and she couldn’t stop taking photos of the vibrant streets at Paseo de la Castellana and Plaza de Castilla. She was taken aback by the magnificence of the architecture and how history still felt alive in these monuments.
Exploring the History and Beauty of Seville
Rakshita’s next stop was Seville, and she couldn’t wait to dive into its rich history. The day started with a visit to the Seville Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world. She was in awe of the towering spires and beautiful stained glass windows. The highlight was climbing the Giralda Tower, where she was treated to stunning panoramic views of the entire city.
Afterwards, Rakshita wandered through the Royal Alcazar, a palace that left her speechless. With her guide sharing insights into the architecture and history, all she could think was how grand this was! The gardens were peaceful and beautiful, offering a perfect escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. She took some time to soak in the beauty and reflect upon how wonderful this solo trip was going.
More Palaces, More History, More Fun
Her next stop was the fascinating city of Granada. She began her day at the breathtaking Alhambra Palace, perched high on the Sabica Hills. As she wandered through the palace, she marvelled at the stunning Islamic architecture and intricate designs.
The history of the Nasrid dynasty and the Christian Conquest fascinated her, and she felt as if she was walking through centuries of rich culture. It was quite a new experience for her and she discovered that she was becoming a history buff!
Next, she visited the Granada Cathedral, Spain’s first Renaissance church. Its grand structure and peaceful atmosphere made it one of the highlights of her trip. Later, she explored the bustling market of La Alcaicería, where she bought small souvenirs and local crafts, ate local dishes and enjoyed live street performances. What made her awestruck was the views from San Nicolás Church, with the Alhambra in the distance, and she took countless photos to remember the moment.
A Mix of Culture and Fun
The last fun destination was Barcelona and Rakshita began her adventure with a visit to the famous Sagrada Familia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. She was amazed by the three beautiful facades that told the story of Jesus’ life. Inside, the forest-like columns and colourful stained glass windows left her speechless.
After a day of exploring, Rakshita was excited to experience Barcelona’s lively nightlife. She headed to a few local pubs, made some new friends and grooved to Spanish music. The energy in the air was electric, and the music was upbeat. She danced and laughed with new friends, enjoying the fun atmosphere. The night felt magical and she felt liberating and happy, experiencing new culture and people.
As her solo adventure came to an end, Rakshita couldn’t wait to share her incredible experiences with her friends, family and of course - with Thrillophilia. The beauty of the country, the rich history, and the moments left her feeling inspired. She made a promise to herself to travel more often, to explore new places, and to continue learning—not just about the world, but about herself.
This trip had revealed something surprising: she was actually a history enthusiast! The historical sites, stories, and architecture had sparked a deep interest she hadn’t expected. With a heart full of memories and a new sense of adventure, Rakshita was already planning her next journey.
