The Many Colours of Rajasthan: Pankaj’s Thrillophilia Trip Review

“Ladies and gentlemen, we are now beginning our descent into Jaipur. Please fasten your seatbelts as we prepare to land in the Pink City of Rajasthan. The local time is 6:45 AM, and the weather outside is a comfortable 22 degrees Celsius. We hope you enjoy your stay in this vibrant city.

Thank you for flying with us.”

Pankaj looked out of the window, the excitement building in his chest as the plane descended. Below him, Jaipur spread out like a dusty pink gem, the warm hues of the buildings catching the early morning sunlight.

He glanced over at his wife, who was peering out of the window with the same eagerness. This was their first trip together, and Rajasthan promised to be an adventure they would always remember.

Two months back they booked this trip with Thrillophilia and since then, they had been just counting days…

Anyways, as the plane touched down, they were greeted by the sights and sounds of the Pink City.

Starting off their tour, their first stop was the iconic Hawa Mahal, and the beauty of the honeycombed facade left the couple breathless. “Pankaj, just imagine what it must have been like back in the day, the royal ladies peeking through those tiny windows, watching life unfold below,” his wife exclaimed.

They then visited the majestic City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Jal Mahal and Amer Fort. In the evening, they caught a glimpse of the most picturesque sunset of their lives at the Nahargarh Fort.

As they saw the sun dipping down the horizon with the city stretching ahead, Pankaj smiled. “And here we are, just a couple of modern-day travellers, trying to glimpse the past through the cracks of history.”

From Jaipur, they continued their journey to Udaipur, the City of Lakes.

Udaipur- Lakes, Havelis, and History

Now, this city has a different rhythm – calmer and more reflective.

On their first evening, they found themselves on a boat, floating across the serene waters of Lake Pichola. The sun was setting, painting the sky in a golden glow. The majestic City Palace loomed above them, its reflection shimmering on the lake's surface.

The couple sighed in disbelief. “We’ve never seen anything like this. It’s like we’ve stepped into a painting.”

Pankaj wrapped his arm around her. “This is exactly what I wanted- moments like this. I feel like we’re floating on a dream.”

During their stay in Udaipur they wandered through the large corridors of the City Palace, losing themselves in the maze of narrow streets. Udaipur had a magic that seeped into their souls, leaving them with a sense of peace they hadn’t known before.

Jodhpur: Different Shades of the Blue City

Next on their trip was Jodhpur, the Blue City.

As they stood atop the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, gazing down at the sea of blue houses, Pankaj’s wife felt a sense of exhilaration. The vastness of the view made her feel like she was on top of the world. “Pankaj, look at this! It’s like something out of a fairy tale.”

Pankaj laughed, his eyes full of mischief. “Race you to the top?”

They laughed and sprinted up the last set of stairs, breathless when they reached the summit. As they caught their breath, Meera grabbed his hand. “This is exactly what we came for,” she said softly. “Not just the sights, but this feeling…like we’re unstoppable.”

The markets of Jodhpur, vibrant and bustling, were a stark contrast to the fort. They spent hours meandering through the stalls, admiring colourful textiles, intricate jewellery, and fragrant spices. Pankaj picked out a handwoven blue scarf for Meera, insisting it would look good on her. She rolled her eyes but wore it proudly, snapping a picture to remember the moment.

Jaisalmer: Golden Sun and Endless Dunes

As their journey continued to Jaisalmer, the desert began to stretch endlessly before them. The golden dunes greeted them with open arms, and their adventure took on a different tone.

During the evening in Jaisalmer, they embarked on a camel ride into the heart of the Thar Desert. The desert felt infinite, the soft hum of the wind, the only sound breaking the silence.

That evening, they sat around a campfire, their faces illuminated by the flickering flames. Local musicians played traditional Rajasthani songs, their melodies blending with the crackling of the fire and the rustling of the sand.

Their nights in Jaisalmer were spent beneath a canopy of stars, the sky so clear it felt like they could reach out and touch the heavens.

As their journey came to a close, they found themselves back in Jodhpur, preparing to board their flight home. Their bags were heavier with souvenirs, but their hearts were even fuller with memories. Rajasthan had left its mark on them, not just in the photos they took or the souvenirs they bought, but in the way it brought them closer together.

And as the plane soared into the sky, they knew that the magic of Rajasthan would stay with them forever, woven into the fabric of their relationship, ready to be revisited whenever they needed a reminder.
