Embracing Dreams Under Thai Skies: Kriti's Thrillophilia Review for a Thailand Trip
'A relationship where both partners uplift each other is a beautiful journey.'
There's a strange satisfaction in planning a surprise for your partner. It's because you know them so well, that you tend to observe little things about them. For me, it was the moment when I noticed him talking to his friends about how he once wanted to visit Thailand, but couldn't.
So I thought, why not plan a trip to Thailand with him (of course I'll be coming along, he's not the only travel enthusiast).
I spoke to Rahul and Pritam from Thrillophilia and booked a 9-day getaway to Thailand. In all honesty, it was super difficult to hide it from him as I have a habit of sharing everything with him. But, somehow I managed to pull this off, and once the trip was booked, I sent him a screenshot on WhatsApp.
He was so excited that he didn't even want to immediately find out about how I got to know his dream destination. And that's how we both visited Thailand together, for the first time ever.
The City of Angels
When someone says Bangkok, all I could think of was vibrant streets and modern architecture. But little did I know that it also housed some terrific attractions like Safari World.
It turned out to be one of our favorite activities during the trip, as my partner and I are wildlife enthusiasts. I particularly liked visiting the Safari Park zone, as I got the chance to spot various animals including lions, zebras, elephants, and tigers.
I found the animal shows to be very exciting, where elephants performed tricks and birds of prey showcased their hunting techniques. We also enjoyed clicking some beautiful pictures by getting up close to the animals.
My partner, on the other hand, loved the Marine Park zone, which features incredible shows of sea lions and dolphins. As the visitors around us cheered for the performances, his applause stood out, I guess he was the biggest fan among all. Watching him admire the underwater exhibitions was such an adorable experience. He was busy looking at the exotic corals and the vibrant fish, and I was busy looking at him, falling in love all over again.
Speaking of love, the Chao Phraya Dinner Cruise was such a romantic experience for both of us.
"Could you be more amazing, a Cruise... Really?" he asked, looking at me in awe.
Feeling a little shy, I held his arm and we spent the next few minutes admiring the skyline of Bangkok, which was dazzling at a distance. I also enjoyed the authentic Thai main course which was served during the cruise. My partner stuck to the basics and preferred having snacks since he already had several Thai beverages.
The Land of Limestone
Ah! Krabi Island was so beautiful that I'm not even sure where to begin. The scenic speedboat ride we hopped on, for the Island Tour, was simply breathtaking. It felt as if we both were gliding across a fantasy land, where huge mountains stood in the middle of the clear waters.
Koh Poda Island was our first stop during the tour, where we got the opportunity to witness the natural beauty of Thailand at its finest. The sandy shores reflected the blue skies, and the crystal clear waters sparkling - the views were spell bounding.
My partner found the next stop to be very funny, as it was not only named after a Chicken but was also shaped like one.
The most memorable moment for us was when we visited Tup Island. We were fortunate enough to visit at a time when the low tide paved a beautiful sandbar that connects Tup Island to the surrounding islands.
While taking a relaxing walk along that sandbar, I felt nostalgic about the way this trip happened. It was as if the low tides in my case, were the phone call I overheard, and the sandbar was us heading out on the trip.
'Traveling leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.' the wise words of Ibn Battuta echoed in my mind.
Bayside Escape to Paradise
Phuket was a place that the destination experts Rahul and Pritam really wanted me to include in the itinerary. As we stepped into the place, I realized why - there were lush green natural landscapes and sandy beaches all around. And that wasn't all, we were yet to try some of the unique activities the duo suggested to us.
We started with a day trip to Phi Phi Islands - on a speedboat, with an extremely knowledgeable guide. Maya Bay was really something out of a high-budget movie, I simply couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Tall limestone cliffs and lush green views stretched as far as our eyes could witness.
Loh Samah Bay was another popular spot we visited during the boat tour. Our guide told us about how it is considered among the hidden gems of Thailand and is loved by tourists across the globe.
Next on the list was Monkey Island, which was my husband's favorite attraction because of the wildlife. It was fun watching him play around with the monkeys and he even posed with a few for pictures.
To make the experience even better, we even had a trip to Elephant Jungle Sanctuary included in our package. Being wildlife enthusiasts, we couldn't hold our excitement, and how could we? There was so much to explore at the sanctuary. We got up close with the elephants, watched their feeding sessions, and even joined them for a mud bath!
For me, this was more than a trip - it was a scenic journey of discovering my partner's dream. Watching him smile throughout the trip reminded me of how strong of a bond we share in the journey of life.
Thank you Thrillophilia for making our Thailand trip an unforgettable chapter in our lives.
