Green Hills and Calm Waters: Prabhash and Jyoti’s Kerala Journey with Thrillophilia
Some places feel like they were made for slow mornings, long drives, warm memories, and the kind of conversations that happen only when you travel with someone special. For Prabhash Kumar and Jyoti Kumari, Kerala became all of this and more.
What began as a simple vacation turned into a story filled with misty hills, peaceful lakes, traditional villages and the joy of discovering new places together.
From the moment they started their journey until the moment they returned home, everything flowed smoothly. Prabhash later shared with a smile,
“Where do I even start? From the day we began the trip till the very end, everything was great. The itinerary was perfect. Our guide and driver, Rajak, took us everywhere from misty mountains to the traditional Punjarin village to the Alleppey backwaters and even the off-road trip at Thekkady. We enjoyed it all.”
Here is the full story behind that experience.
A Warm Welcome in Kochi
Their trip began in Kochi, where they were welcomed by their driver guide, Rajak, who quickly became more like a travel companion. The drive from Kochi to Munnar was filled with scenic views. Tall trees lined the roads, waterfalls appeared suddenly around curves, and small tea stalls offered the smell of fresh Kerala snacks.
Every few kilometers, Rajak stopped at beautiful viewpoints, letting Prabhash and Jyoti take pictures, breathe the cool air, and soak in the slow charm of the hills.
By the time they entered Munnar, the sky had turned soft blue and the hills looked like green waves. It was the perfect beginning.
Munnar: A Hill Station That Feels Like a Painting

Waking up in Munnar felt refreshing. The air was cool, the surroundings peaceful, and the morning sunlight touched the tea gardens gently.
Their first day here was dedicated to sightseeing. They visited places like the Eravikulam National Park area; though entry is sometimes restricted, the views around were stunning enough. The couple also explored tea plantations where workers plucked leaves with practised ease. The endless stretch of green calmed their minds in a way no city ever could.
Rajak also took them to viewpoints where the clouds were so low it felt like they were walking through cotton. Munnar had that effect. You could simply stand still and feel happy.
The night ended at their cosy hotel, where warm food and soft lights made everything feel homely.
More of Munnar: More of Nature
The next day, Munnar continued to unfold its beauty. The couple visited local spots, lakes surrounded by hills, small shops selling spices and homemade chocolates and even some hidden gems that only locals know.
There were moments when the wind carried the smell of tea leaves. Moments when the couple stopped just to listen to the silence. Munnar had a way of slowing down time.
By the time the second evening arrived, Prabhash and Jyoti felt fully connected to the place and to the journey they were on.
Thekkady: Forests, Off-Road Trails and Adventure
Leaving Munnar behind, they drove towards Thekkady, a destination known for its wildlife, spice plantations, and adventure experiences. The drive was scenic once again, with valleys rolling out on one side and tall trees rising on the other.
Their sightseeing here included visits to plantations where the smell of pepper, cardamom, and cloves filled the air. The fragrance was rich and earthy. They learned about how spices are grown, dried, and processed.
But the highlight was something unexpected.
An off-road experience arranged in Thekkady that made Prabhash especially excited. The bumpy ride through rugged forest paths, the thrill of sudden climbs and the laughter that followed every jerky turn became one of the funniest and most memorable parts of their trip.
As the sun set behind the tall trees, they returned to their hotel in Thekkady for a peaceful night.

Alleppey: The Calm of the Backwaters
After the hills and forests, it was time for something completely different, something Kerala is famous for. The backwaters of Alleppey.
The moment their houseboat began to glide across the still waters, everything slowed down. The water reflected palm trees, fishermen paddled quietly by, and small village homes stood peacefully by the banks.
Prabhash and Jyoti sat on the deck, watching the scenery pass like a moving painting. The gentle rocking of the boat felt soothing. The delicious Kerala-style meals prepared on board made the experience even better.
By evening, when the houseboat stopped for the night, the surroundings fell silent except for the soft sounds of water. The couple stood under the open sky, watching stars appear slowly. It felt like time had paused just for them.
This was one of the most peaceful moments of their journey.
Discovering Punjarin Village
Rajak also took them to a traditional Punjarin village during their journey. The wooden houses, quiet courtyards, and local lifestyle reminded them of how beautiful simple living can be.
The villagers welcomed them with warmth. Jyoti loved the authenticity of the place while Prabhash enjoyed watching the local activities, clicking pictures and soaking in the atmosphere. It was a glimpse of rural Kerala that many do not get to see.
Back to Kochi: A Happy Ending

After their peaceful stay in Alleppey, it was time to drive back to Kochi for their departure. The journey felt lighter because their hearts were full. There was satisfaction, peace and the kind of joy that only a well-planned holiday brings.
When they reached Kochi, Prabhash and Jyoti looked out at the city one last time, grateful for the experience they had shared.
