A Journey Through Lights and Love: Dileep’s Europe Trip Thrillophilia Review
On a crisp winter morning, we gathered at my place with steaming cups of coffee, like we always do on weekends. A few minutes into the regular banter, we found ourselves daydreaming about a vacation in Europe. The cozy ambiance of our weekend ritual slowly turned into a spontaneous travel plan.
The idea of finally heading out for that long-desired trip took its shape, and soon, the excitement spread like wildfire. We started imagining ourselves on a group adventure - the four of us, wandering among the cobblestone streets of Europe.
As days passed by, our itinerary expanded, each destination added by carefully considering everyone’s favorites. From the iconic Eiffel Tower to the scenic canals of Amsterdam, our list grew into a beautiful plan.
There was preparation to carry out - shopping for warm winter clothes and trendy outfits for mind-blowing photos. The countdown to our departure date was an exciting journey all by itself, filled with the anticipation of adventures we'd experience.
First Stop: PARIS
“Paris! The city of lights and romance!” our friend remarked, as soon as we began our sightseeing tour. We had not even reached the first attraction of the city tour, and we were all already impressed by its ambiance.
Locals had a fascinating sense of fashion, and lively conversations could be noticed at several outdoor cafés. It felt like a scene from a novel as if everyone was playing a part in a beautiful story.
The moment we reached the Eiffel Tower, we realized that it looked even more iconic in person.
“Let’s head to the top floor! I want to see the views of the entire city,” my partner suggested with a contagious enthusiasm. As we ascended to the third level of the Eiffel Tower, I could feel a sense of anticipation growing within me. The panoramic views of Paris from the top of the tower took my breath away.
Later in the evening, we even enjoyed a leisurely cruise on the Seine River, where we got a chance to admire several historical monuments. Watching those monuments at night, glowing in decorative lights, was an entirely different experience.
“This is what I had always imagined Paris to be like,” my partner said, leaning against the boat railing, as the gentle breeze played with her hair.
“I guess that’s the magic of this town,” I replied, feeling a sense of togetherness as we shared laughs under the night sky.
Rides, Laughter, and Nostalgia
It's crazy how you visit a place and it somehow immediately sends you back to your childhood, turning you into a 5-year-old.
Yes! We couldn't hold our excitement at Disneyland Paris, we were going to see them all - Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Donald!
As we entered the park, a vibrant and energetic ambiance greeted us with kids and adults from all over the world. Different zones in the park were playing their theme music, drawing fan bases for rides and meet-and-greets.
“What do you suggest we should do first?” I asked my partner.
“Let’s hit those thrilling roller coasters!” she said.
And with that, we were off, laughing and screaming as the rides went up and down at thrilling speeds along the adventurous rails. The joy of being at Disneyland went far beyond exploring a theme park, as all of us were experiencing nostalgia - of childhood shows and funny characters.
After an exhilarating day filled with several exciting rides and meet-and-greets, we gathered for a meal, as we shared our experience at Disneyland Paris.
“Can you believe the amount of fun we all had today? The rides were so thrilling!” I said.
“I’m still a little dizzy from the last ride!” my partner chuckled. It was surely a day that we were going to remember all our lives, filled with laughter and joy.
Making Every Moment Count
The next part of our journey led us to Switzerland, where we were all awe-struck by the natural beauty.
Before this, we had only seen Switzerland in 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge'. We used to get fascinated by its scenery even through a TV screen, but this time we were standing in the middle of it - It looked heavenly!
“Look at those hills!” my friend gasped as we enjoyed a scenic drive across the lush green landscapes. The sight felt as if it was something out of a fairy tale.
And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, Rhine Falls took us by the unbelievable scale of its massive flow.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” my partner said, her voice filled with amazement as we reached the roaring waterfalls.
We even enjoyed taking a boat tour that took us up close to the majestic falls. The spray of water from it felt refreshing, and the thrill of being so close to nature’s power was a memorable experience.
Later, we also enjoyed a day trip to Jungfraujoch, also known as “The Top of Europe.” To call the views of the surrounding landscapes from the top 'dreamy' would be an understatement. We stood at a height of more than 11,000 feet, admiring mountains all around, covered in snow.
The need for a hot beverage was inevitable - so after visiting the Ice Palace, we enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate.
"These are the kind of trips to live for,” I remarked, and everyone nodded in agreement as they sipped their drinks.
Until We Meet Again
As we neared the end of our European adventure, visiting the Colosseum and the Vatican City seemed like a great way to conclude our vacation.
“I can’t believe it's more than 1900 years old,” I said, surprised by the historical heritage of the Colosseum.
Visiting the Trevi Fountain was my favorite part of the trip, as I had heard that it fulfills your wishes if you toss a coin in it. Since I had not had enough of Europe, I was hoping for another trip soon. Interestingly, that's what tossing a coin does, it makes sure that you return to Rome.
“Here’s to future adventures!” I declared as all of us tossed coins into the fountain.
