As they made their way to each island, snorkelling became their new favourite hobby. "I’ve never seen so many colours in my life," Ashish said, laughing as he recalled the time he accidentally swam too close to a school of fish, startling them and himself in the process.
"I swear, those fish were more scared of me than I was of them! But man, in the underwater world there is something else. It's like swimming in an aquarium, but better because it's real."
Nights that turned into mornings
While the days were packed with beach hopping and sightseeing, it was the nights that truly brought Thailand to life for them. "Thailand's nightlife is like a shot of espresso—fun, energetic, and you just can't get enough!" Ashish raved. And for this couple, it was the night markets, the rooftop bars, and, of course, the infamous Phuket Fantasea Show that took centre stage.
One night in particular stood out. Picture this: a dinner cruise down the Chao Phraya River, with the city lights shimmering in the water, soft jazz playing in the background, and Ashish and his partner enjoying a candlelit dinner while floating past some of Bangkok’s most famous landmarks. "It was romantic." Ashish reminisced, his eyes lighting up. "We ate, we danced, and we just... soaked in the moment."
And then, there was the Phuket Fantasea Show. "I didn’t know what to expect, but wow," Ashish said with a grin. It wasn’t just a performance; it was a spectacle—acrobats, elephants, and a storyline that kept them at the edge of their seats. "It's like Cirque du Soleil, but with elephants!" he added, laughing at the absurdity of the description but assuring that it was an experience unlike anything they’d ever seen before.
Beaches, boats, and belly laughs
While Thailand is known for its beaches, nothing could have prepared Ashish and his partner for the grandeur of the Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay.
Maya Bay, with its towering limestone cliffs and turquoise waters, was the highlight of their boat tour. "We jumped off the speedboat and swam to the shore like we were in some kind of action movie," Ashish recounted.
Phuket, too, had its own charm, with half-day tours that introduced them to both the modern and traditional sides of the island. From vibrant temples to panoramic views, each stop added a new layer to their love for the place.
From beaches to bustling streets
After spending days frolicking on beaches, their arrival in Bangkok was a stark contrast—but in the best possible way. "Bangkok is pure energy," Ashish said, describing it as a city that never sleeps. From tuk-tuk rides to exploring street food markets, every moment felt like a whirlwind of excitement.
They even found themselves wandering through a maze of stalls selling everything from handcrafted trinkets to mouthwatering street food.
One of their favourite moments? Getting lost in a night market and stumbling upon a bar, where they ended up sharing stories with fellow travellers.
"That’s the thing about Thailand," Ashish said. "You come for the sights, but it’s the people and the unexpected moments that make you fall in love with the place."
