A Romantic Rendezvous: Arushi’s Hong Kong Adventure with Thrillophilia
I can’t believe it’s been weeks since our trip to Hong Kong, yet I’m still daydreaming about it.
For me, it was one of those trips that you cherish for a lifetime and even tell your kids about it. The souvenirs in your home become a daily ticket to relive those magical moments. When someone asks about your best moment, your mind instantly rewinds to that one trip etched in your heart.
For me, it was the best trip of my life that I got to experience with the love of my life.
This is the story of our romantic escape to Hong Kong– a trip full of happiness, fun and romance-filled moments - all planned with Thrillophilia!
Arrival in the City of Lights
The second we arrived in Hong Kong, I could tell we were in for something extraordinary—it was love at first sight. The neon lights, the endless chatter in the streets, and the aroma of sizzling food—it was a sensory overload in the best way possible.
After freshening up in our hotel, we left out to explore a little and started with the vibrant Mong Kok. I had never seen such a lively neighbourhood with quirky shops, street performers, and food stalls serving everything from egg waffles to Dim Sum.
Additionally, there were several shops, selling catchy souvenir items like tea sets, silk products, chinese chess and traditional attires. We spent a good two hours searching for the best souvenir that would remind us of this amazing trip.
Wandering through the market, he bought me a tiny trinket from a street vendor.
“A little something to remember this moment,” he said, slipping the bracelet onto my wrist.
It was a simple gesture, but my heart was already melting.
The Peak of Love!
The next morning, we hopped on the iconic Peak Tram to visit Victoria Peak. It was a steep incline which made us giggle uncontrollably.
Reaching the summit, we were greeted by Hong Kong in all its glory—shiny skyscrapers and a picture-perfect harbour stretching endlessly. As I stood there, taking in all the beauty, he pulled out a tiny box from his pocket.
Seeing that box, I did not know how to react. I asked myself, “Is this what I think this is?” For a few minutes, I kept staring at the box.
And then…
He bent down on one knee and said softly, “Arushi”, with a steady voice even though I could hear his heart pounding even from a distance. He continued, “You’ve made my life brighter than this skyline. I cannot wait any longer to call you my wife. Will you marry me?”
I was so overwhelmed that my mind went blank, and all I had were tears streaming down. But then I pulled it together and said the only thing that mattered: "Yes, a million times yes!"
We received ‘congratulations’ from every person standing on the peak. He was the one thanking everyone in return, whereas, I was lost in my own bubble, replaying the proposal like a favourite movie scene.
Childhood Dreams at Disneyland
The next day was the most exciting of all, the one I couldn’t contain my excitement for!
It was the day we were going to visit ‘Disneyland’!
As soon as my husband and I stepped into Disneyland, a wave of nostalgia hit us. “It’s like our childhood dreams just came alive,” I said, clutching his hand. Mickey-shaped balloons floated around, children giggled, and cheerful music played in the background.
Our first stop was Main Street, USA, where we posed for pictures with Mickey and Minnie. “I feel like a kid again!” said my husband, followed by a big laugh and showing off his newly bought Mickey ears. We explored quaint shops, and watched a parade featuring princesses, pirates, and our favourite Disney characters, leaving us in awe of the magic surrounding us.
“Did you ever think your Prince Charming would bring you to an actual Disneyland?” he asked with a smirk face.
I did, but I also thought he would buy me Churros, but I don’t see any, so!” I shot back at him.
Believe it or not, we spent the next two hours only trying the various snacks, drinks, dishes and deserts at Disneyland. And, of course, we started with my favourite Churros!
We ended the day with the dazzling fireworks show over Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. Standing there, hand in hand, I whispered, “I feel like the luckiest girl alive.”
A Trip to Remember!
As we packed our bags the next day, I couldn’t help but reflect on how this trip had turned into one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. From the laughter-filled streets of Mong Kok to the magical proposal at Victoria Peak, every moment was magical.
Hong Kong wasn’t just a destination for us—it also became the beginning of our new chapter. And Thrillophilia made every moment seamless, ensuring our trip was stress-free and filled with romance.
As the plane took off, I looked at him and whispered, “Where to next, fiancé?”
“Anywhere with you,” he said, kissing my hand.
And just like that, the adventure continued!
