Rediscovering Life: Abhilash and his Wife’s Andaman Escape with Thrillophilia
For a long time, me and my wife started feeling as if we were caught in an endless loop of coding sprints and back-to-back meetings, constantly in motion but never truly moving forward. The relentless pace of the city's hustle left us wanting for something more—perhaps a moment of stillness, a break from the noise.
Finally, at dinner one evening, my wife said to me "Let's run away for some time".
One thing led to another, and soon enough, we were booking a journey through Thrillophilia offering us the best travels in Andaman; without us having to worry about any other detail.
Andamans Calling
When we landed in Port Blair, I felt a rush of exhilaration paired with relief. We were finally here, “far from the maddening crowd!”
Our first stop was the Cellular Jail - a gorgeous place that also has a rich history. As I wandered through its halls, I could not help but think about the stories of endurance and selflessness that had permeated those walls. It was a very reflective beginning to our trip, which, in a way, set the tone for what we would experience on this journey.
The next day, we headed to Havelock Island. I had read up about it, and seen photographs, but nothing could have prepared me for how beautiful it actually was. The waters were of an ethereal blue - like something you would see in a movie. This time around, we had signed up for scuba diving, which was an entirely new experience for us both.
I’ll admit, I was nervous. Breathing underwater just seems a bit unnerving to me. We looked at each other for a brief moment, my wife smiled reassuringly and, with that, we just took the plunge.
It was like stepping into a whole new world as we descended below the sea. All around us the water was clear as crystal and bursting with life - coral reefs were thriving here. We were surrounded by fish in all the colours of the spectrum. Sometime during the dive, I turned around to find a sea turtle swimming past us, like it was taking us on a tour. It was so stunning that my wife and I simply looked at each other in awe, our eyes wide open soaking in the scenery.
When we popped our heads up out, we were gasping and giggling, feeling like we had left some part of us behind down there in the depths of the sea.
The following day was all about relaxation. Part of the fun on this day was taking a cruise to Elephant Beach. It was so refreshing, with wind in our hair, and the ocean stretching out as far as the eye could see. When we finally arrived, the beach was everything we had imagined and more. We spent the day snorkelling, the sun warming our backs as we floated in the water, watching the underwater world go by.
Finding Joy in the Little Things
Our love for photography brought us to Kalapathar Beach. We had seen its pictures, but actually standing there was a different matter entirely. The black rocks against the turquoise water created a stunning contrast, and we couldn’t resist setting up a mini photoshoot. The beach wasn’t that crowded, just us and the waves. We placed our camera on a makeshift tripod and took turns being goofy, posing, and of course, laughing at ourselves.
Regardless of the photos, it was more about being there and experiencing it all - how the sun disappeared beneath the sea and painted our surroundings with colours, making everything feel so right.
One thing that the Andamans had taught us was to find joy in and appreciate the little things. Each day was a new adventure, but it was the little moments that made it special. It was the things we had started to miss. Because, in reality, who doesn't love watching the sunrise over the blue expanse of water whilst on a leisurely stroll along the beach? Who doesn’t like sharing a quiet meal by water?
The rush of our daily lives did not have time to accommodate these simplicities. At Andaman, there was no rush, no deadlines, just us and the beauty of nature.
A Trip to Remember
Honestly, everything about this trip was as perfect and easy as you could hope for! All thanks to Thrillophilia and Deepika Jaiswal, we did not have to worry about anything. We felt we were in good hands from the moment we booked. Every detail was taken care of, from the itinerary to the little surprises along the way. Deepika was also always a simple call away, ready to help us with whatever we wanted.
Also, leaving the Andamans was harder than I expected. We had come here looking for an escape, and we found so much more. It was not just about the picturesque scenery or the moments of adventure that we shared. It was all about catching up, reconnecting with each other and making memories that would stick with us well beyond our return to everyday life.
So for those in really tiresome situations, or just needing to get away from it all, do yourself a favour and take that trip to the beautiful Andaman Islands.
